Housing Counseling

Made possible with funding from the City of Philadelphia’s Office of Housing and Community Development (OHCD) and in conjunction with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency (PHFA), Korean Center Housing Counseling’s main focus areas are in default and delinquency counseling, for those homeowners whose homes are in danger of foreclosure, and pre-purchase counseling, assisting first time Philadelphia homebuyers through the home buying process. In pre-purchase counseling workshops, our counselors advise clients about affordable mortgages and the steps that they need to take to attain a mortgage.

Put simply, our main goal is to assist people in getting into their first homes, and, should the need arise, helping them stay in those homes even in the wake of job loss, or other trying personal circumstances. We realize that home ownership carries great practical and symbolic importance and we are committed to assisting community members make and protect that important investment.

Additionally, Korean Center provides counseling in other areas such as home improvement loans (e.g. PHIL Plus, Mini-PHIL, and PHIL), refinance loans, city tax liens, and tenant services.
